After Veronica disappeared, the community and surrounding region rallied behind the Blumhorst family. Without the support of the community, the Blumhorsts would have not been able to survive this tragedy. The community hosted fundraisers for a reward and expenses to show their support. The Blumhorsts received hundreds of cards and letters as well; these came from family, friends, and even strangers just expressing their concern and love.
